Story

The Institute was established in 1990 with a mission to guide the people of the Cumberland Valley region to become stewards of their natural and cultural worlds. We accomplish this by providing environmental and cultural history education for elementary and secondary school children, conducting research in natural and cultural history, providing opportunities for adults to learn about the nature and culture of the region and the world beyond and providing programs that inform and entertain.
