Due to rapid assortment rotations, fast-moving beauty trends, and expiration limits, the cosmetics industry regularly produces surplus stock, unsold formulations, and packaging waste (such as unsellable nail polishes, unused glass jars, and obsolete marketing banners).
Mixed materials and complex cosmetic formulations are often difficult to process through standard municipal recycling streams and historically ended up in thermal waste treatment (incineration).
